Blog #5 How to stay Patient

Updated: Dec 9, 2019

When your tempted to lose patience with someone or something, just think how patient God has been with you during this time. Many people say good things happen to people who wait. I'm a prime example of this. The patience I have instilled into my life has not only helped me obtain the things I desire, but has also kept me with a cool head during the process. I actually feel that waiting for something good to happen is the best part of the the process after all. It can be extremely bitter, but is sweet as fruit in the very end. The greatest part of waiting for something marvelous to occur is that it happens unexpectedly. With love and patience, nothing is impossible my friends. My best advise I can give to you is not to rush anything in life. When the time is right, good things will happen. I can contribute my patience to my calm personality. I have a cool, collective personality and it has helped me significantly to have the ability to wait and let things unfold while just playing my part.

I have learned not to force my hand. Meditation, prayers, breathing exercises and yoga are all key ingredients in my arsenal that has helped me during the process, but it takes way more then those factors to remain cool in high pressured situations. Breath control is a big factor. If you can remember to take a few deep breaths when your in stressed situations, it can go a very long way. I've always had a problem with breathing due to a deviated septum that has just gotten worse in my life , but once I've learned how to breathe and learn to control inhaling and exhaling, it has helped me out greatly.

Patience is a trait that not many people have. In this crazy fast paced world filled with high tempered, stressed individuals, it's very rare that you can have a great leader to lead with direction and purpose. Patience is a trait where good things happen to some, and if you have the ability to let things play their course, you will also reap the benefits in the absolute long run. One of my favorite quotes about patience is "Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet", and that is so true. Iv'e learned first hand by being loyal to the things I love most in my life. I have participated in physical fitness(working out) consistently for almost 8 years now, and I finally have a body that I am proud of and not ashamed to show off. However, it did not take 3 months to build. It took years of sweat, blood, hours in the gym, and many painful injuries to achieve the level that I'm finally at. Over time, i have built enough muscle where I'm happy, and don't have to go overboard or work out as often as I use to in the past. Lets all remember that Rome was not built in a day.

This patience has spilled over to many other parts of my life including fatherhood. We all know dealing with a toddler can be challenging, especially when a child is demanding and demands a lot of attention. I have learned to have patience with my daughter and understand that if I teach her how to do things that she will eventually understand and learn to do things on her own. There has been many times where I had to wait in line at a hospital or a dentist. I have learned that its a process. If I wait my turn, that eventually I will be seen. Throwing a fit, cursing, complaining and acting grumpy will not get you anywhere, and will just make the situation worse. You can use this time to do things, like read, interact, or even play games on your phone to kill the time.

God has perfect timing; never early, never late. It takes a little patience and it takes a lot of faith but its worth the wait. Many people believe if they start praying to God that great things will happen to them immediately. But that is simply not the case. However, if you believe, constantly ask for forgiveness, then good things will happen in time. Allah never said the road would be easy, but he did say "I will be with those who have patience". Patience is not about doing nothing. Patience is about constantly doing everything you can, but being patient about results. Results come in time, so you cannot give up, surrender, or quit. Be resilient in your actions, whats meant to be will always find its way. Patience and time do more than strength or passion. Dont rush for anything, when the time is right, it'll happen. Just have faith. Keep your head up. The secret of patience is to do something else in the meantime. Every bad thing turns into a good thing in the end, you just gotta wait for the right moment.

Just because something isn't happening for your right now doesn't mean that it will never happen again. I personally have gone through many trials and tribulations in my life but through it all out shined every obstacle. I was confident in my skills as a person and always had the belief that I would bounce back and become an even better version of myself. For example, a few years back, I was laid off from a company called Cynergydata. I was an IT engineer for several years. I wasn't really happy there, but at the time I was still attending college, and was reluctant to change jobs because I feared change. I didn't think I could get another job in the field. I took some time off and was patient in my quest to find a new job. Long story short, the company re-hired me again in few months and was I was hired on a permanent basis with an even hire salary. The point of the story is, through patience I was able to get what I wanted, and didn't have to stress myself out in the meantime.

We all go through these tough times in our lives where we feel like just giving up. We all want to use excuses and quit when the chips are down. However, through patience, persistence and perspiration it will make you better and is an unbeatable combination for success. Its not simply the ability to wait, its how we behave while we're waiting. They say "Two of the hardest test in life is the patience to wait for the right moment and the courage to accept that you've waited for nothing". I couldn't agree with that quote any more. The gift of being able to see past emotions is one that few people have. I see so many people in the corporate office just losing their temper or having an attitude because they want things done their way immediately. Instead of waiting on a plan to digest or to take its course to see results, people go off and it just makes them look out of character.

They say if you are patient in a moment of anger, you will escape a hundred days of sorrow. I feel this to be true, I rarely get angry anymore, and I make it a habit not to even curse. I found that the emotion of anger does not have any real advantages and can only lead to turmoil. How do you ask I stay away from this emotion? I guess its the mere fact that I look for the positive in every aspect and even if I cannot find any positive angle, I remind myself not to be upset. Patience is not something you are born with, its a trait that is built over a long time. I have been patient at work for years now inquiring for a promotion. I continue to do my job everyday and never give up hope that one day upper management will see the great job that i'm doing. I hope someday someone will reward me for it. I have not fussed, given up, or complained to co-workers about my current situation. That will just set me back, but instead use even more leadership and a positive attitude to showcase my skills.

If patience is worth anything, it must endure to the end of time. They say patience is a virtue, and I'm still learning to be patient. Its a tough lesson. But through perseverance and consistent hard work, I have trained my mind to wait things out. I know that on the other side of the rainbow things only get better. No matter how low your life can get, there is always light at the end of the road and the grass is much greener on the other side. Teaching my daughter Aleena how to read and write has been challenging and frustrating at times. She has a very short attention span and can get frustrated easily. However, I know if I have patience with her, and continue to teach and show her on how to progress that she will eventually understand. She will comprehend through practice and that is all that I can be satisfied with.

There are many situations that we go through in life where patience is needed. A man who is a master of that is a master of everything else. Its a necessary ingredient of a genius. I know that one day it will all pay off. All of the hard work I put into my life, it will all be worth it. I have learned to enjoy life and just learning about myself. I found my purpose in life and it makes me happy. The inner peace that I found inside myself took time, it took a lot of soul searching and finally came up with the answers once I really started to think what life is all about. My positive attitude and constant engagement in life actions made me realize never to give up, and even if things are not working the way you envisioned, to have patience, and good things will eventually happen.

In closing, I hope I have shed some light to my audience on how to be more patient. I've shared some great tips on how to do so. We all need patience in life, especially when going through tough times. With patience, you will learn to be a more complete and calm individual and will learn how to enjoy life fuller. Patience is a trait that can be obtained after training yourself to do better. I hope you enjoyed by best post yet, Blog#6 , What is patience? Signing off, your boy, Im aka Deucey.
